Huge congratulations for Rylee Miller! She finished in the top 5 in the 5th and 6th grade spelling bee. From there the top 10 spellers from both spelling bees competed for two spots. She faced stiff competition and secured an impressive 9th place out of 100+ talented spellers!

Congratulations to our JV girls and boys for clinching first place at the Lawson JV tournament!

It's Science Fun Friday in 5th Grade!
First, 5th graders participated in an ecosystems scavenger hunt using a variety of magazines from the Missouri Department of Conservation. As they were reading through the magazine articles, they had to identify different types of producers, consumers, and decomposers in various ecosystems.
Next, students were given a handful of animal crackers to use in the creation of their very own food web model. When they were finished, they had to write an explanation about energy transfer in their food web.
Finally, students got to enjoy their animal crackers while they watched an episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy centered around food webs.

Kindergarten, first and second grade students are learning scooter skills and safety in PE this week! Mrs. Duran has created a community of places for our students to visit on their scooters. Some of our featured stops include community owned and operated businesses. Contact Mrs. Duran with information to highlight your business and to add another stop in Scooterville!

We ❤️ a good assessment! On February 14th, all 11th grade students will participate in the ASVAB assessment, often thought of as the "Military Test," though it's much more than that. Students will have the opportunity to use their scores on the test to explore their strengths and postsecondary opportunities both in the military and out. See the link below to learn more about the Career Exploration Program and find prep materials to help you succeed on test day. Breakfast will be provided, so rest up and come ready to show us what you know!

On March 27th, the Mid-Buchanan RV School District will host a Career Fair for students in 5th-12th grade. Groups will be divided by grade levels (5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12) with each group coming in shifts between 9AM-1PM. Activities included in the Career Fair will be developmentally appropriate for each group, meaning they'll be exploratory for 5-10th grade and more informational/preparatory for our 11th and 12th grade students.
We would like to invite members of our community to join us! If you're in a professional field that our students would be interested in pursuing and are willing to join us for a Career Fair, please RSVP below. Additional details will be sent to your email closer to the event date.
We appreciate your support of Mid-Buchanan R-V School District and our students. We look forward to hosting our first Career Fair and hope to see you there!

This past Monday, Paige Burns, Rosie Adams, Reanne McCauley, and Nicole Kneib were recognized for the January Board Spotlight.
Ms. Burns does an excellent job providing support to our students in reading success. Ms. Burns has helped with the learning and development of the reading success plans. She continues her professional growth by attending the area Title I Network and is in the second year of LETRS training to stay current on the best interventions to improve student reading.
Ms. Adams, Ms. McCauley, and Mrs. Kneib are implementing departmentalization in the third grade for the 23 - 24 school year. They collaborate consistently using student data to drive instruction in each of their classrooms.
