First grade students are working on real-world skills! As they learn the value of coins and how to compare and add along the way, Ms. Buckler's class used a Build Your Own Brownie activity to find different order totals and used coins to "pay" for those orders with partners. #buildingbetterdragons

What an incredible day at the Lathrop Special Track Meet! Our amazing RISE students had the chance to show off their strength, determination, and team spirit out on the field today—and they absolutely shined! From running races to cheering each other on, the smiles were nonstop. Staff and students wrapped up the day with a very special surprise—KC Wolf stopped by to celebrate with us! Big thanks to everyone who made today possible. Moments like these remind us what inclusion, joy, and community are all about. Thank you to the Lathrop School District for hosting a great day!

Happy National Home Visiting Week (April 21–25, 2025)! This inaugural celebration shines a spotlight on the incredible impact of home visiting programs—and more importantly, the amazing people who make it all happen. Across the nation, home visitors work tirelessly to support families, empower parents, and give children the strongest possible start in life. We’re proud to share that Mid-Buchanan’s own Heather Sandlin, our PAT (Parents as Teachers) educator, was among those showcased! Heather’s nomination highlighted just a glimpse of the love, expertise, and commitment she brings to the families she serves. Her work is deeply valued—not just here in Mid-Buchanan, but as part of a movement that’s changing lives across the country. This week, and every week, we celebrate YOU, Heather, and every home visitor making a difference one family at a time.

RISE students were able to participate in the Cameron Wiffle Ball Event on April 14th, 2025. Our students had a blast building their gross motor skills while swinging for the fences and running the bases. Even more importantly, they practiced teamwork, communication, and social interaction throughout the day. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun in an inclusive, supportive environment. A big thank you to the Cameron School District for hosting such a fun and meaningful event — we truly appreciate your commitment to inclusion and collaboration! Way to go, RISE team — we are so proud of your effort, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm!

Dear Families, We’re going to Costa Rica in Summer 2027, and you’re invited! We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://rsvp.eftours.com/geknp3h When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure. In this info session, we’ll talk about: -How this opportunity will benefit your student -What we’ll see and do on our trip -Everything that’s included in this experience -How your child can earn academic credit -How we’re keeping this safe and affordable -How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity! Thanks, Mr. Franc Nava
