For juniors and seniors attending Hillyard Technical Center, SJSD will have early outs Wednesday and Thursday, so our students will not have HTC classes.

After a series of unforeseen delays, we are excited to share some incredible news! We are eager to announce the installation of our final 2 tiers of the playground on August 30th!
We began this playground journey last August by asking each student to vote on the pieces of equipment they would want on their playground. We hoped to have it finished before school started when we encountered a few roadblocks, but should be on a roll now!
Thank you to everyone for understanding and we are so excited to celebrate the final pieces of our playground!

Hello Dragons!
Please do not forget that tomorrow, August 9th, from 1 - 6 PM is new student (1st - 12th grades), preschool, and kindergarten registration. You will need to bring a primary (mortgage statement, lease agreement, or 2022 real estate tax) and a secondary (any utility bill) to provide proof of residency. If you are enrolling a kindergarten student, please bring a copy of their birth certificate and immunizations.
All returning students will come on site, Thursday, August 10th, from 9AM - 7PM.
Due to construction, everyone will enter through the high school entrance (northwest corner of the building) and proceed to the multi-purpose room. The multi-purpose room will be divided in half, one half will be for elementary students and the other half will be for JH/HS students.

Just a reminder to any junior who is planning on attending the DC trip in March, the $500 deposit is due on Thursday, August 10th. If you have any questions regarding the DC trip, please reach out to Mr. Gibson or Mr. Kendrick.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Chantelle Schwope as the new 7-12 Principal at Mid-Buchanan R-V. Mrs. Schwope and her husband, Eddie, celebrated 22 years of marriage in January. Together, they have four children– Grace (21), Alli (17), Ella (16), and Jake (8).
As a student at Stewartville High School she had the opportunity to cadet teach and found her calling as an educator. She then attended Missouri Western State University to obtain a degree in Elementary Education with additional certification in K-12 Special Education. She later earned her Masters in K-12 Educational Leadership from William Woods University.
Mrs. Schwope has 16 years of educational experience. She spent her first six years at Eugene Field Elementary in St. Joseph where she taught both 5th grade and special education. At the encouragement of a supervisor, she made the leap and found a love for the high school world where she taught six years of high school special education and math at Central High School and Savannah High School. Most recently, she has served as the PK-12 Principal in the Stewartsville C-2 School District for the past four years.
Outside of school, you are likely to find her at church–where she serves on the worship team, enjoys teaching VBS each summer, and is on the Missions Committee–or at a ball field or court supporting her children or 13 nieces and nephews. Any time she can spend with family is time she thoroughly enjoys.
Mrs. Schwope believes that having the opportunity to work in school administration allows her to serve and impact more students and staff. She is truly passionate about seeing students succeed at school and in life. She is ready to serve the Dragon Nation and work diligently to ensure we are meeting the district's mission: 'To prepare ALL students to become successful, productive citizens through learning each day'.
Parents of students with special needs are invited to join us for a great resource fair featuring local organizations and disability experts who can help you navigate career planning, early childhood needs, transition services, early work experience, summer work programs, benefits planning, and housing to help you plan for today and the future. You will also be provided a sneak peek at adult services you may want to apply for now due to waiting lists.

Summer Athena will be closed on Monday, July 3rd, and Tuesday, July 4th, in observance of the Fourth of July. Regular Athena hours will resume on Wednesday, July 5th.
