Mummification meets modern day in 6th grade! Mrs. Vulgamott's students are wrapping up an unforgettable hands-on lesson by mummifying a pumpkin. Students sequenced the events of the mummification process, and then had an opportunity to apply their creative writing skills to create an obituary about their "pharaoh" they had just mummified. 🎃✨🧺
While learning about King Tut and Ancient Egypt, students dove deep into the fascinating world of pharaohs, pyramids, and preservation. Inspired by the discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb and ancient embalming rituals, they put their skills and knowledge to the test by creating mimi mummies with pumpkins. 🏺👑

The Mid-Buchanan JH and HS Softball Tournaments are this Saturday, October 4th! Games will take place at Mid-Buchanan and Heritage Park. The schedules for both are below. Come support the Dragons!
Intro to Ag students are applying science by growing food with hydroponics in the Flex Farm! Each day, they test the water’s pH and measure nutrient levels with a TDS meter. Then, they make adjustments—replacing water, adding nutrients, or balancing with a pH down solution.
Through this process, students are not only producing healthy, nutritious food—up to 25 pounds of harvest every 4 weeks—but also learning firsthand how agriculture is evolving with new technology and sustainable practices.

Their harmonies filled the space, quickly attracting a crowd as students and staff gathered at the “sound booth” to enjoy the music.

Today is a BIG day for our PTO! Their Back to School Carnival is tonight from 5-7 pm. With the weather today, we will be moving events to the Safe Room and indoor spaces. Please park around the back to access the fun and games!

This is an incredible opportunity for students to explore new places, experience different cultures, and gain lifelong skills like independence and confidence. 🏈 What an incredible day! Today we hosted our 3rd Annual Special Olympic Football Day!
We were joined by students and staff from East Buchanan, Plattsburg, Polo, Cameron, West Platte, and Lathrop who all came together to practice football skills like passing, kicking, punting, and running drills.
Beyond the field, students enjoyed valuable social time, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to build teamwork and confidence. Events like these remind us how powerful inclusion, friendship, and shared experiences can be.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible—we’re already looking forward to next year! 🏈
