Mrs. Coy's Kindergarten class knows how to ask GREAT questions about what they are reading! School AI had a mystery to solve, and her class was up to the task. They needed to know who stole Santa's sleigh! They used their schema, what the text stated, and their character clues to determine who the suspect might be. They worked to develop good questions to get School AI to give them a detailed answer on if their guesses were on the right track. #buildingbetterdragons

Over the past month, Mrs. Wilmes’ Advanced Nutrition class took on the exciting challenge of planning and preparing a Holiday Meal for Mid-Buchanan Elementary, Middle, and High School staff. This project provided students with valuable real-world experiences and offered a glimpse into the fast-paced world of professional catering. From creating a menu and shopping for ingredients to cooking, decorating, and managing hospitality, students gained hands-on experience in teamwork, time management, and problem-solving while serving approximately 125 people. They practiced recipe conversions, cost analysis, and safety and sanitation protocols, all while designing beautiful presentations and handmade decorations. Though they may not have loved doing the dishes, students walked away with a greater appreciation for the hard work that goes into event planning and catering. Great job to all the students involved—your hard work and dedication made this event a memorable one for our staff!
